The body found Tuesday night by sheriff’s officials in the Arkansas River had on clothing a missing teenager was wearing when he disappeared in the river last week, according to the Otero County coroner.
Devlin Cambeul, 19, went missing on the river early June 12 and search and rescue crews have not been able to find his body, sheriff’s officials said Friday.

Officials have not yet confirmed the body they found is Cambeul, but the coroner’s office said the clothes on the body matched what witnesses said Cambeul was wearing when he went missing in the river.
Cambeul’s family was notified when the body was removed from the river, the coroner’s office said.
Otero County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a body in the river around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday — six days after Cambeul was reported missing.
The body was found in the Arkansas River just north of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railyard near La Junta, sheriff’s officials said in a statement on social media.
An autopsy has been ordered by the El Paso County Coroner, who will work to identify the body, but that can take between four and 12 weeks to complete, according to Otero County coroner’s officials.
