Body of missing toddler found in Silverthorne

A missing toddler was found dead Tuesday evening in Silverthorne, city officials said.

The toddler, a 1 1/2-year-old boy, was reported missing just after 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Willow Grove Open Space, Silverthorne officials said in a news release.

Search and rescue teams found the boy’s body at about 5 p.m., after searching Blue River and the surrounding area, officials said. It’s unclear exactly where the boy was found.

Silverthorne police officers, Colorado State Patrol troopers, Summit County sheriff’s deputies, the Summit County Rescue Group, Summit Fire and EMS crews, the Red, White and Blue Fire Protection District, Dillon police officers and Frisco police officers all helped search for the missing boy.

The Summit County Coroner’s Office will release the boy’s identity and cause of death.
