Body pulled from water after boy, 16, went swimming with friends in lake

Police searching for a teenage boy who got into difficulty while swimming at a lake with his friends have found a body.

The unnamed 16-year-old boy, reportedly from Peterborough, was swimming in the lake yesterday when he disappeared.

Officers were called to Crown Lakes in Farcet, Peterborough, at 4 pm on Thursday, Cambridgeshire Police said.

It’s now been announced that a body was recovered from the lake just before midnight yesterday.

‘While formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be that of the missing boy and his family have been notified,’ police said.

‘This case will now be handed to the coroner.’
