A 14-year-old boy was shot and wounded Wednesday in Douglas.
The boy was in the street in the 300 block of East 37th Street about 3:20 p.m. when someone approached him and fired shots, Chicago police said.
He suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to Insight Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition, police said.
The shooting happened a block from Ida B. Wells Preparatory Elementary School and two blocks from Wendell Phillips Academy High School.
No one is in custody, and Area 1 detectives are investigating.
