Boy, 16, ‘missing in water’ at popular park after getting into difficulty swimming in pond as cops launch urgent search
A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has gone missing in a pond after getting into difficulty at a popular swimming spot.
The teenager went missing in Beckenham Place Park in Lewisham, London, just after 3pm today.

The teen was attempting to swim at Beckenham Place Park, Lewisham
Cops rushed to the park after reports of a boy who got into difficulty in the water and have launched an desperate search.
London Fire Brigade, Met Police and a police helicopter were all spotted at the scene and are now co-ordinating a search party.
The park was evacuated to help aid emergency services that were desperately searching for the teen.
Lewisham Council announced on X that it was aware of a “serious incident” at 5.20pm.
The post read: “5.20pm: We are aware of a serious incident at Beckenham Place Park.
“Council staff are supporting the Police on site.
“The park is currently closed.”
The boy’s next of kin has been informed and is currently being supported by specialist officers.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A 16-year-old boy is believed to have got into difficulty in the water and is now missing.
“Emergency services are currently co-ordinating a search.”
This comes a schoolgirl went missing after she fell into the River Thames on Monday afternoon.
Kaliyah Coa, 11, vanished into the water while paddling with a friend near Woolwich, London.
The youngster, of Beckton, had been staying with pals during an inset day, having celebrated her birthday the week before.
It’s understood she took off her shoes to paddle in the water – but slipped and fell before being swept away by the current.
