Boy, 17, killed, man critically wounded in Far South Side shooting

A teenage boy was killed and a man was critically injured in a Far South Side shooting Monday night, police said.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 8:15 p.m. and found the 17-year-old boy lying in the street in the 13000 block of South Champlain Avenue. The man, 20, was nearby with a gunshot wound to the lower back, according to Chicago police.

Both victims were taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where the boy was pronounced dead and the man was listed in critical condition.

No one is in custody and detectives are investigating.
