Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union plans tentative picket Sunday depending on negotiations with Vail Resorts

Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union president Ryan Dineen said his organization is planning a tentative picket at the bottom of the BreckConnect Gondola on Sunday, Nov. 16. The protest is dependent upon the outcome of a Thursday, Nov. 13, bargaining session with Vail Resorts.

Dineen notified Breckenridge Town Council of the potential picket at a Tuesday, Nov. 11, meeting during public comment. Dineen said he applied for a permit to picket through the Breckenridge Police Department.

He said the Breckenridge Ski Patrol Union is currently in negotiations with Vail Resorts to secure a labor contract to replace one that is set to expire on Saturday, Nov. 15. He said the two groups have been in these negotiations since April.

“We are striving to maintain and improve wages, benefits, educational opportunities and more, to ensure that individually, and as a patrol, we can be successful and engaged members of this community,” he said. “We have learned over the years that our power as workers is limited at the bargaining table.” Read the full story at our partner, Summit Daily.
