British man stabbed to death outside Spanish nightclub ‘after row’

The victim was stabbed during a fight outside the Oxygen nightclub in Calella

A British man has died after being stabbed outside a nightclub on the Spanish coast in the early hours of this morning.

Local media reported that a fight broke out in front of the Oxygen club in Calella, a seaside resort roughly 30 miles from Barcelona.

The man, said to have been a tourist of English origin, died at the scene.

A second victim was also injured and is currently being treated in hospital.

Detectives have not identified anyone else involved but have narrowed down the potential attackers to a group of young locals of North African and Dominican origin, according to local police sources cited by Catalan news outlet ElCaso.cat.

CCTV footage from the nightclub is being reviewed in the search.

A number of bystanders who witnessed the fight have also been interviewed.

Authorities were reportedly in the process of contacting British officials later on Friday morning to pass the news onto the victim’s family.
