The Broncos rookie class reports for the weekend’s rookie minicamp Thursday and the club wasted no time agreeing to terms with several draft picks this week.
Denver’s got agreements now with five of the seven players drafted last month. As of Wednesday evening, only the top two picks — first-round corner Jahdae Barron and second-round running back RJ Harvey — had not yet agreed to terms.
Those that have, according to a source: Third-round WR Pat Bryant and DL Sai’Vion Jones, fourth-round OLB Que Robinson, sixth-round P Jeremy Crawshaw and seventh-round TE Caleb Lohner.
It used to be that rookie contracts could involve substantial negotiation. The Collective Bargaining Agreement now has slot values for every pick in the draft, however, meaning the vast majority of players end up just signing their four-year entry contracts for the slot value and signing bonus.
Barron, of course, will have a fifth-year option on his contract due to his status as a first-round pick. The Broncos won’t have to decide whether to exercise that option until after his third professional season.
The slot values for each of the five Denver picks who have so far agreed to terms:
Bryant — Four years, $6.581 million. Signing bonus: $1.426 million
Jones — Four years, $6.161 million. Signing bonus: $1.121 million
Robinson — Four years, $5.054 million. Signing bonus: $854,248
Crawshaw — Four years, $4.374 million. Signing bonus: $174,288
Lohner — Four years, $4.309 million. Signing bonus: $109,488
