LIVERMORE — All eastbound lanes of Interstate 580 are closed in the Altamont Pass as crews work to extinguish a brush fire, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Around 2:30 p.m., a vehicle fire was reported on the highway east of North Flynn Road. The flames then spread to the hillside.
All eastbound lanes remained shutdown as of 3:10 p.m., the CHP said. Motorists were urged to use alternative routes if possible.
