The Bulls are winning games as though they’re — how to put this? — maybe even kind of good. The Blackhawks aren’t getting rolled over night after night themselves.
What sick, twisted world is this?
In this week’s “Polling Place,” your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X, we wanted to know who’s buying these strong starts for our long-suffering basketball and hockey teams.
“Why not? It’s early,” @daruma853 commented, throwing support to both squads. “Let’s get behind our teams and see how it goes!”
Next — and this was a loaded topic — we asked voters to vouch for one of the ownership families among the McCaskeys, Reinsdorfs, Rickettses and Wirtzes. Yes, we know, we really went fishing on that one. Not surprisingly, multiple commenters refused to play along.
“None of the above,” @Grizzly990 wrote.
“None,” @Muwarrior82x weighed in.
Last, we asked for the winner of Sunday’s Bears-Bengals game in Cincinnati.
“The Bears have a quarterback problem, as usual,” according to a duly skeptical @Raymond44311871.
Chicago sports is a vibe — and not the healthiest one.
On to the polls:
Poll No. 1: The Bulls and the Blackhawks both are off to good starts. Are you buying it in either case?

Upshot: There’s only one thing Bears fans do more reliably than complaining about how terrible the team is, and that’s picking it to win. Go figure.
