Cambridge fire: Huge blaze rips through caravan park sending plumes of thick smoke into sky as 45 firefighters scrambled

NEARLY 50 firefighters have scrambled to tackle a blaze that has spread to caravans and outbuildings.

Multiple fire engines responded after emergency services were called to the scene in Cambridge around 7.54 this morning.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We currently have multiple fire engines in attendance at a fire involving caravans and outbuildings in the Fen Road area of Cambridge.

“We were called at 7.54am and have around 45 firefighters at the scene.”

The force has also posted on social media urging local to keep “doors and windows closed” due to smoke coming from the site.

Pictures taken at the scene show police and fire engines parked up down narrow country lanes.

Firefighters have also cordoned off the area with cones.
