After two years of serving customers who had the munchies, Irie — a high-end restaurant that was part of a cannabis dispensary and lounge — has closed. But the space is reopening with a new identity.
“It was too costly to run a daily restaurant, everyone knows what’s going on in the restaurant industry,” said Brian Robinson, owner of PeasureMed Dispensary & Lounge, a West Hollywood dispensary that’s part of the Pleasure Campus.
The campus is made up of a trio of businesses located along 7715-7733 Santa Monica Blvd. that also includes The Pleasure Chest adult store and, until Nov. 2 when it closed, it housed the farm-inspired Southern comfort food eatery Irie Restaurant.
Located above the dispensary, the more than 100-seat restaurant opened in October 2023 and offered a high-end atmosphere and food that went beyond the typical munchies.
“But we still do events pretty well,” Robinson said. “We’re booking events like birthday parties, holiday parties, engagements parties, company events and stuff like that,” Robinson added.
The new private events venue is currently dubbed Irie Event Space. It launched Nov. 17 and offers food, indoor dining rooms, a patio and of course easy access to the dispensary.
“We have a small lounge that fits 25 people inside the dispensary and that’s a legal smoking lounge, so that’s what’s interesting about is that people can rent out all the Irie space and then still go downstairs and partake. It takes two seconds to get high and they can go back upstairs and be back at the party,” Robinson said.
