Two men were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when their vehicle flew off the 60 Freeway near downtown Los Angeles and landed upside down on the southbound 101 Freeway.
The crash was reported at 12:27 p.m. on the eastbound side of the Pomona Freeway near Euclid Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle came to rest in a lane of the southbound 101 Freeway near Soto Street, a CHP officer said.
Both men, believed to between 25 and 30 years old, were trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.
They were taken to a hospital in “at least” serious condition, Stewart said.
Two lanes of the southbound 101 Freeway were closed, and a SigAlert was issued. Traffic was also slowed on the 60 Freeway, where a long piece of guardrail was reported to be in the center divider.
