Charges were pending after a man was stabbed and critically wounded Sunday during a fight in River North on the Near North Side.
The 22-year-old man was walking in the 700 block of North State Street around 9:20 p.m. when he began arguing with a 24-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, Chicago police said.
The 22-year-old was then struck and knocked to the ground before he was stabbed once in the back, police said.
He was stabbed two more times but managed to get away, officials said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was in critical condition.
Two people were taken into custody and charges were pending.
