King Charles has been pictured for the first time since his son Prince Harry revealed in an interview the pair no longer speak to each other.

The monarch was spotted smiling and waving from his car as he left the church on his Sandringham estate after a Sunday service.

In the bombshell interview with the BBC, broadcast on Friday after he lost a legal challenge over his UK security provision, Harry opened up about the years-long tension with the rest of his family.

As well as claiming the king no longer talks to him, he revealed he doesn’t know ‘how much longer my father has’ amid his treatment for cancer.

Elsewhere in the interview, Harry spoke out about his disappointment at the result of the court case.

The Duke of Sussex claimed he was the victim of a ‘stitch-up’ after his appeal for higher security was dismissed, saying he can only come to the UK safely if he is invited.

He said the security review was ‘initiated under a previous government’ and that ‘there is now a new government.’

Harry’s remarks about the alleged stitch-up were described as ‘really offensive,’ his former royal protection officer Ken Wharfe said.

Wharfe, who worked for Harry, William and Princess Diana, said that the Duke of Sussex cannot expect ‘all-singing-and-dancing protection that you had when you were in the United Kingdom.’

He said Harry has ‘really played the wrong card’ on the security issue’ and that he doesn’t understand how the royal can expect to get full protection in the UK ‘when he knows that the actual security package comes at the expense of the British taxpayer.’

The Duke continued: ‘I have had it described to me, once people knew about the facts, that this is a good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up, and that is what it feels like.’

He said he is feeling ‘very let down’, adding: ‘What I’m struggling to forgive, and will probably always struggle to forgive, is that a decision that was made in 2020 that affects me every single day, and that is knowingly putting me and my family in harm’s way.’

Meghan has shown more sneak peeks into the royal couple’s life recently – although the children are mostly kept out of the limelight.

Last week, a sweet video showed Lilibet helping her mum make strawberry jam on Meghan’s relaunched Instagram page.

The three-year-old can be heard saying ‘I think it’s beautiful’ with her American accent when Meghan asks her opinion of it.

Before today’s Instagram snap, Meghan had shared a photo of her and Lilibet admiring pink roses with ‘Sunday kind of love…with my little loves.’

Meghan has been busy this year after relaunching her lifestyle brand As Ever in February before her new Netflix series With Love, Meghan.

The show is part of the Sussexes’ $100 million (£78 million) partnership with Netflix.
