The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. in the 14200 block of San Pablo Avenue, according to the San Pablo Police Department.

Officers arrived seconds later to find the pedestrians lying in the roadway with major injuries. They were taken to an area hospital, where they were listed in stable condition Wednesday.
The BMW driver and his passenger tried to run away, police said, but they were quickly detained.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence causing bodily injuries, reckless driving, driving without a license and resisting or delaying an investigation. The passenger – identified as a 30-year-old San Pablo man – was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and resisting or delaying an investigation.
Both men were treated for minor injuries and booked into Contra Costa County jail.
The roadway was closed for an investigation until about 6 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
