A child died after a tree fell at a summer camp near Calabasas on Wednesday afternoon.
Authorities responded just after 2:50 p.m. to a camp at King Gillette Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Five people were injured, including a child who was taken to a hospital in critical condition and two other victims who were transported with minor injuries. The additional two victims declined further medical treatment, the fire department said.
One of the victims, a young child, later died, according to the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.
