Idaho Springs police are investigating a fatal climbing accident after a person fell from a route along a nearby state highway, according to the department.
The Idaho Springs Police Department, Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office and multiple medical and rescue teams responded at about 3:05 p.m. Saturday to the 400 block of Colorado 103 for an unspecified climbing accident, police said.
A Flight for Life helicopter joined rescue teams, but responders found that the climber had fallen and died from their injuries, police said.
The accident happened on private property, sheriff’s officials said.
The investigation remains ongoing. The Clear Creek County Coroner’s Office will identify the climber after the family has been notified.
