Senior QB Brady Vodicka connected with BYU tight end commit Ty Goettsche for a pair of touchdown passes in the first quarter, and the Bruins defense posted its second shutout in three games as Creek claimed its 18th straight win dating back to last season. 6. Durango (4-1) won at Grand Junction, 31-0: The Demons defense continued its torrid start to the season, posting its second shutout in three games to lead Durango to a fourth straight win. 8. Heritage (3-2) lost at Columbine, 14-13. The Eagles dropped a second Littleton grudge match in four weeks, falling to the 5A Rebels after senior Will Monroe blocked a point-after attempt with 6:20 to go. Mo Thenell put the Eagles on the precipice of tying the game with a 13-yard TD run, but Monroe and While Adame applied pressure on the extra point to secure the win for the Rebels (2-3). Columbine junior Ajay Gonzales and senior Mark Snyder both topped 100 yards on the ground and scored a touchdown apiece. Next week: at No. 7 Golden, 7 p.m. Oct. 2.
9. Riverdale Ridge (5-0) won vs. Silver Creek, 49-0: Sophomore QB Ricky Weeks threw touchdown passes to three different receivers and finished with 131 yards on 9-of-14 passing in a rout. Diego Galvan added 120 yards and two TDs on just nine carries, while the Ravens defense posted its second consecutive shutout in the team’s second straight 49-0 rout.
