FORT COLLINS — For the second straight visit to Colorado State, the Colorado men’s basketball team found itself in an epic battle.
And for the second consecutive time, the Buffaloes fell just short.
CSU’s Kyle Jorgensen recorded a go-ahead three-point play with 1 minute, 18 seconds remaining and Rams guard Josh Pacarelli capped his big game with a clutch late jumper, leading the Rams to a 91-86 victory Saturday afternoon at Moby Arena.
It was the first loss for the Buffs, who fell to 8-1, and their second consecutive road loss at CSU.
Colorado State led 48-41 at halftime and pushed its lead to 13 points before the Buffs caught fire, scoring 16 consecutive points in what turned into an 18-1 run. The teams traded leads down the stretch, but after Isaiah Johnson gave CU an 85-83 lead with 1:46 left, Jorgensen’s three-point play retook the lead for the Rams for good.
Jorgensen also knocked down two free throws with 21 seconds to play.
Pascarelli finished 8-for-10 on 3-pointers with 26 points.
