Showers and thunderstorms are expected over the mountains, foothills and parts of the plains Sunday with temperatures in portions of the plains hitting 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Isolated storms may produce wind gusts up to 45 mph over the mountains, foothills and adjacent plains, but little rain is expected. Temperatures in the plains may range from 95 to 100 degrees this afternoon, NWS forecasters said.
Sunday will be sunny with a high of 95 degrees in the Denver metro area. Temperatures may drop to 66 degrees tonight with gusts up to 18 mph, according to the NWS.
A heat advisory is in effect for the Denver area from 11 a.m. Monday to 9 p.m. Tuesday, according to the NWS. High temperatures may be in the mid to upper 90s, with nightly lows dipping to mid to upper 60s.
Monday will be sunny with a high of 96 degrees and a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Monday night will be mostly clear with a low of 64 degrees, NWS meteorologists said.
Tuesday will be sunny with a high of 94 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms may return to Denver on Wednesday afternoon.

Storms may form later Sunday along the Colorado and New Mexico border, especially in the Trinidad region and from Kim to La Junta. Gusty winds up to 50 mph are expected, with occasional cloud-to-ground lightning.
High temperatures are expected across Colorado again on Monday and Tuesday, with parts of northeast Colorado reaching the upper 90s and potentially dangerous heat in the plains, especially near El Paso, Pueblo and eastern Fremont counties. Showers and thunderstorms with brief rainfall and gusty winds may form over the higher terrains, according to the NWS.
