A cold front moving into Colorado on Wednesday night will bring snow to the mountains and thunderstorms to Denver, according to the National Weather Service.
Thunderstorms and rain showers are likely across the Denver area and Eastern Plains between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday, NWS forecasters said. Rainy weather is expected to return Thursday afternoon.
In the mountains and foothills, snow will fall instead of rain, but little to no accumulation is expected, according to a NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook.
Isolated areas above 8,000 feet could see between 4 and 10 inches, forecasters said.
Some storms may produce gusty winds and small hail, forecasters said in the outlook.
Temperatures will hit 70 degrees in Denver on Wednesday, but will be cooler on Thursday in the mid to upper-50s, forecasters said. Warm, sunny weather in the high-70s is expected to return Saturday and Sunday.
The city and Eastern Plains will see another wave of scattered storms early next week with slightly cooler temperatures.
