SAN JOSE – Concord police officers shot and injured an armed bank robbery suspect Monday morning in San Jose after a multicounty pursuit, police said.
The incident kicked off shortly before 10 a.m., when a pair of armed suspects robbed a Concord credit union, the Concord Police Department said in a news release.
Officers found the suspected vehicle and started a pursuit when it drove away, police said.
The vehicle became disabled on Interstate 680 in Sunol, police said, adding that the suspects carjacked a pair of vehicles at gunpoint and ultimately drove off in one.
Officers pursued the carjacked vehicle into San Jose, where it became disabled and officers were involved in a shooting with one of the armed suspects, police said.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.
San Jose officers found a second suspect in the area a short time later, police said.
The shooting happened in the 900 block of Timothy Drive, between East Taylor Street and Berryessa Road, the San Jose Police Department said in a social media post.
Several streets in the area were closed in the wake of the shooting, according to San Jose police.
Concord police are investigating the bank robbery, pursuit and carjacking, and San Jose police are investigating the police shooting. No other details were released Monday.
