Both the Bears’ head coach and its halftime show performance know the “Good, Better, Best” cheer by heart.
That’s because Ben Johnson and country music star Chase Rice both played football at A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, N.C., where Johnson leaned the cheer that he leads after Bears wins. They both attended North Carolina to play football, too. Rice is a Bears fan.
The Bears announced Thursday that Rice, a multi-platinum selling artist, will play the halftime show of their divisional round playoff game against the Rams at Soldier Field. Rice played The Salt Shed in June, where he led his band in the same cheer the Bears do — with Johnson looking on.
It will be a glitzier halftime show than last week; for the Packers game, the Bears featured two youth football scrimmages at halftime.
Jim Cornelison will sing the National Anthem before Sunday’s game, the team said on Thursday.
