Crews battle blaze at red-tagged building in Oakland
OAKLAND – Firefighters battled a blaze Wednesday afternoon at a red-tagged commercial building on the waterfront between Alameda and Oakland, according to fire officials.
The fire broke out around 2:50 p.m. at the structure, located at 3575 Alameda Ave., Oakland Fire Department spokesperson Michael Hunt said. It was declared under control roughly an hour later.
No injuries were reported.
Six fires have happened at the same location over the past two years, Oakland fire Battalion Chief James Bowron said.
Bowron said the Alameda and Oakland fire departments sent 30 firefighters to the scene. The response also included four fire engines, two ladder trucks and a fire boat.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
