The fire was reported around 4 p.m. at Stevenson Boulevard and Eureka Drive, on the Newark-Fremont border, the Alameda County Fire Department said in a social media post.
Aid was requested from the Oakland and Hayward fire departments, according to authorities.
The fire department said Union Pacific halted trains due to them fire.
Additional details about the fire, including acreage and containment figures, were not immediately available.
