Crews respond to 55-acre fire in Contra Costa County

Contra Costa County Fire and Cal Fire crews were working Sunday to contain a grass fire that broke out in Pittsburg around 4:40 p.m.

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a building on fire off John Henry Johnson Parkway, which extended to the grass.

The John Fire was just over 55 acres and 40% contained as of 6 p.m., according to Contra Costa County Fire.

Cal Fire reported a 30-person crew and at least eight engines, two dozers and two water tenders were responding to the incident.

Contra Costa County Fire said at least two aircraft were also on the scene working to contain the blaze.
