Cyclist killed in Fremont crash with semi-truck

FREMONT — A bicyclist was killed Friday in Fremont in the city’s first reported traffic fatality of 2026, police said.

Officers responded shortly after 12 p.m. to a report of a collision on Osgood Road and found the bicyclist had died at the scene.

According to the Fremont Police Department, a semi-truck traveling north on Osgood stopped in the center left-turn lane to turn into a business parking lot. The bicyclist, wearing a helmet, was heading southbound on the west side of the road.

“As the semi-truck began to turn into the driveway, the bicyclist was approaching, and the two collided,” police said. “The point of impact was the front driver’s side of the semi-truck and the oncoming bicyclist.”

Police said drugs and alcohol are not believed to have contributed to the crash. The truck driver remained on scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation, which is being handled by the department’s traffic unit.

The Fremont Police Department is asking anyone with information or who witnessed the collision to call 510-790-6760. Anonymous tips can be sent via text to 888-777 with “Tip FremontPD” followed by a short message or online at fremontpolice.gov/Tip.
