‘Defeatist’ Sunak lost handily to ‘robotic’ Starmer in last night’s leader’s debate, as Labour prepares to launch its manifesto later today.

A YouGov poll of 1,864 voters who watched last night’s debate in Grimsby crowned Starmer the victor by a margin of 65-35, despite both leaders facing jeers from the crowd and struggling to answer questions.

Despite launching the Conservative manifesto just hours before, Sunak still found himself fielding questions on last week’s D-Day fiasco and was booed by the crowd when he tried to blame doctors going on strike for the rising waiting lists.

One audience member described Sunak as ‘a defeated man’, while Starmer was labelled a ‘political robot’ after he was accused of evading questions and parroting an oft-repeated line about his father being a toolmaker.

Sunak was attacked by the audience over his national service plans and laughed at when he claimed he was ‘excited’ for his two daughters to take part in it, and Starmer was jeered at by a junior doctor over his refusal to commit to a 35% pay rise.

Despite this, both sides claimed victory following the debate. When the audience was asked whether the two leaders had changed their minds only three people raised their hands- all of them Tory voters who refused to support the Conservatives nex month.
