If you’d like a snack that’s easy on your wallet, Del Taco might have what you’re looking for.
The Lake Forest chain’s new Micro Meal includes a miniature version of its Beef and Cheddar Burrito, seven to 10 crinkle-cut fries and a single Donut Bite for $2.99, according to a news release.
This is one of the cheapest combos from a major fast food chain to date, albeit one of the smallest. McDonald’s set the bar in 2024 with its $5 meal deal, which was beat by Checkers & Rally’s with some $4 combos, currently GloRilla’s $4 Unbeatable Meal Deal.
My meal fit snuggly in a 5½-by-5-inch carton. I counted the fries. There were 13, but a couple of them were stubby. The usual portion of Donut Bites is four, by the way.
The Micro Meal made a light lunch that didn’t ruin my dinner. Since I’m a fan of the full-sized Beef and Cheddar Burrito, it was nice to have a more guilt-free option.

Since these portions aren’t on the regular menu, it’s difficult to calculate the savings, but full portions of these items would cost more than $10. The total here was $3.25, including tax.
Note, the Micro Meal doesn’t include a beverage.
Del Taco’s other value combos are still around. They’re called El Big Boxes and provide heftier meals for $5, $7 or $9. Each includes three or four items such as burritos, fries or cheeseburgers, plus a 16-ounce soft drink.
The chain’s current limited-time items feature Del Dorado Chicken — grilled, marinated chicken with Salsa Roja — and an Orange Cream Shake.
The Micro Meal won’t be around for long. It lasts through Nov. 23, the news release said.
