A Delta Air Lines flight made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport after its left engine caught fire shortly after takeoff Friday, July 18.
The Boeing 767-400 returned to LAX around 2:10 p.m. and landed safely with no injuries reported, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Flames were visible from the plane in footage from LA Flights obtained by KTLA.
The flight was en route to Hartsfield/Jackson Atlanta International Airport when it made the emergency landing with 226 passengers, seven flight attendants and two pilots aboard, according to Delta.
Fire officials examined the plane, and Delta maintenance teams will also assess the aircraft.
An FAA investigation is ongoing.
