Denver man dies after leaping from Greyhound bus on Highway 287

A man jumped from a Greyhound bus passing through Prowers County early Thursday morning and was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer, police say.

Colorado State Patrol trooper Sherri Mendez said Friday that the circumstances leading up to death of Pedro Simon, 26, of Denver are still under investigation.

The bus was traveling north on U.S. 287 and the truck was traveling south when the crash happened shortly after 4 a.m., the agency said in a news release.

U.S. 287 was closed as a result between Springfield and Lamar until 9:56 a.m.
