A 20-year-old Denver man will spend four years in Colorado’s Youthful Offender System after he was convicted of manslaughter for stabbing his uncle to death during an argument over hot sauce.
A Denver jury convicted George Vigil on a lesser charge of reckless manslaughter in June. He was initially charged with second-degree murder after police said he stabbed his uncle, 39-year-old Robert Vigil, at a home in the 2300 block of North Federal Boulevard in September 2024.
George Vigil also received a suspended six-year sentence in the Colorado Department of Corrections from Denver District Court Judge Anita Schutte. That sentence will take effect if he’s not successful in the youth system.
