Denver Summit FC signs defender Camryn Biegalski as club continues to add to back line

Denver Summit FC continues to bolster its back line for the club’s inaugural roster.

Summit FC signed defender Camryn Biegalski to a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2027, the club announced on Thursday. Biegalski, 27, has played in the NWSL for the Chicago Red Stars, Washington Spirit and Chicago Stars FC.

“I’m thrilled to join Denver Summit FC and be part of something new in the NWSL,” Biegalski said in a statement. “This club’s vision, energy, and commitment to excellence really stood out to me. I’m excited to get on the field, help build a winning culture, and contribute to the team’s success from day one.”

Biegalski has played in 64 matches as a pro, including as part of the Spirit’s 2021 NWSL title team. She is the third defender Summit FC has signed, joining Kaleigh Kurtz and Megan Reid.

Summit FC general manager Curt Johnson called Biegalski, the 2019 Big Ten Defender of the Year at Wisconsin, “a versatile, intelligent defender with championship experience and a competitive drive that will elevate our squad.”

Thursday’s announcement follows a pair of signings over the last week. Summit FC inked veteran goalkeeper Abby Smith to a multiyear contract through 2027 with a mutual option for 2028, and then on Tuesday also brought on midfielder Jordan Baggett on a one-year deal.

Smith is a two-time NWSL champion, and Baggett is a Littleton native who has played in the NWSL for the Spirit (2019-23) and Racing Louisville FC (2023-24). The 2018 Pac-12 midfielder of the year played club soccer for Colorado Rush. Baggett is the second Colorado player the club has signed, joining Colorado Springs native Ally Watt, a forward who was acquired via trade with Orlando in August.

Summit FC will continue to build its roster over the next six weeks. The 2026 NWSL season kicks off in mid-March, and Denver is playing its first home match in front of what could be a record-breaking crowd on Saturday, March 28, at Empower Field.
