Sushi Sasa, which has been one of Denver’s favorite sushi restaurants for 20 years, said Monday that it has closed.
Located at 2401 15th St., Sushi Sasa was owned by Wayne Conwell, who started it in 2005 after working at Sushi Den and for “Iron Chef” Masaharu Morimoto.
“It has been an absolute pleasure and honor to lead Sushi Sasa for the past 20 incredible years. While all great things evolve, it’s time to embrace new opportunities. With mixed emotions, we share the decision to complete this beloved chapter,” Conwell wrote Monday on Instagram.
“With the support of so many talented individuals, it has been our privilege to bring exceptional sushi and unforgettable dining experiences to Denver. We are deeply grateful for the loyalty, trust, and memories we’ve created together. Sushi Sasa has been a true labor of love, and we will forever treasure the moments our team has shared with each and every one of you,” he added.
Several other long-running restaurants have announced their closures in recent days, including Cafe Brazil, which closes this week after 32 years; the long-running Denver outposts of both Taco House and Senor Burritos; and Fruition, from chef Alex Seidel, which will close in January.
