A woman has died after a car she was in rear-ended a semitruck late Sunday in Des Plaines.
Nazly Rodriguez-Munoz was a passenger in a Toyota Prius driven by a 28-year-old Des Plaines woman who was eastbound on Algonquin Road approaching Leslie Lane when she hit the rear of a Volvo semi about 11:55 p.m., police said.
The driver told police the truck was parked along the side of the road with no lights on, but the trucker said he was traveling east slowly, police said.
Firefighters pulled Rodriguez-Munoz, who was bleeding heavily from her leg, from the wreckage and applied a
tourniquet to stop the bleeding, but she died at an area hospital, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
