Downtown Disney shuffles shops and restaurants in ongoing game of musical chairs

Downtown Disney continues to play musical chairs with shops and restaurants moving from one location to another in a revolving game of retail roulette that has left customers wondering when it will all stop.

The latest move finds the WonderGround Gallery reopening in a retail location formerly home to California Sole, which left Downtown Disney in May after more than a decade at the Anaheim outdoor mall next to Disneyland.

The nomadic WonderGround Gallery, which has been relocated before, was ousted from its previous Downtown Disney location to make room for the Disney Dress Shop.

The relocated Disney Dress Shop moved to make space for an expansion of Marceline’s Confectionery, according to MiceChat.

Marceline’s Confectionery is closed during the remodel with a retail kiosk set up in front of the shop selling a limited assortment of sweet treats.

The King of Downtown Disney Musical Chairs has to be Earl of Sandwich — which has been bounced around the mall like a ball in a demonic pachinko game.

Earl of Sandwich is currently housed in the former La Brea Bakery location awaiting relocation to a temporary trailer outside the former ESPN Zone before moving into a new permanent home under construction in Downtown Disney’s west end. Porto’s Bakery will take over the La Brea Bakery spot after Earl of Sandwich leaves.

The Earl of Sandwich construction site is next door to the new Din Tai Fung restaurant (set to open this summer) and the new Parkside Market food hall (set to open by Thanksgiving).
