Drive-by at Near West Side gas station leaves 1 dead, 1 hurt

An 18-year-old man died nearly 12 hours after a double shooting Monday night on the Near West Side.

The shooting happened in the first block of North Western Avenue around 10:40 p.m. Monday when Antonio McDuffie, 18, and a 49-year-old man were shot by someone in a passing vehicle, Chicago police said.

McDuffie, 18, was shot in the legs and head, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. McDuffie, of the 1000 block of West 56th Street in Chicago, was taken to Stroger Hospital where he died at 9:46 a.m. Tuesday.

The older man was listed in fair condition, also at Stroger, with gunshot wounds to the buttocks and abdomen, police said.

No one was in custody.
