Paul Robson, 32, has been charged with murder and is due to appear in Manchester Magistrates Court today.

Cops initially responded to reports of a fight between two drivers close to the Elk Mill roundabout at 6.40pm.

It is believed that the drivers of two vehicles had an altercation close to the roundabout, before one of the drivers got back into his vehicle and struck the other man with it, police say.

The victim sadly died at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency services.

Referring to Mr Bowles, cops said: “His family have described him as a kind, loving, family man and true gentleman who always put others before himself.

“He was intelligent and quick-witted, had a brilliant mind and generous heart. Paul will be missed greatly by all his family and friends.

“We are continuing to support the family, who have asked for privacy at this difficult time.”

The investigation is now being run by our Major Incident Team and enquiries are ongoing.

Officers are appealing for information and anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

This includes anyone with any dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage from the area at the time of the incident.
