SAN JOSE — A man was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence after he crashed into a food bank warehouse Wednesday night in San Jose, according to authorities.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. at the Second Harvest of Silicon Valley warehouse in the 700 block of Curtner Avenue, a San Jose police spokesperson said.
The driver ran from the scene but was arrested a short time later. He was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries before being booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges of hit-and-run, DUI and evading a police officer, the spokesperson said.
No one inside the warehouse was injured, and the crash did not impact the food bank’s operations, according to Second Harvest of Silicon Valley spokesperson Diane Baker Hayward.
“Our trucks are moving in and out as usual, food is on its way to the community, and all volunteer shifts will proceed as scheduled,” Hayward said, adding that no food was lost as a result of the crash.
