A driver was taken into custody after his passenger was fatally injured in a crash early Wednesday in Humboldt Park.
Officers responded to the 3700 block of West North Avenue around 1:05 a.m. after a blue sedan jumped a curb and struck a barrier, Chicago police said. A witness told police the sedan was speeding and attempted to make a turn moments before the crash.
The woman, 41, was a passenger in the car and suffered body trauma, police said. She was taken to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead.
The driver of the sedan, a 43-year-old man, suffered unspecified injuries, police said. He was listed in fair condition at the same hospital.
Criminal charges against him were pending.
