A driver died after being hit with a “large metal object” that went through their windshield causing a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the South Side.
State troopers responded to the outbound express lanes of the Dan Ryan at 29th Street for a single vehicle crash around 5:10 a.m., Illinois state police said.
State police did not specify what kind of object was involved.
The motorist, a 39-year-old man from Chicago, was taken to an area hospital where he were pronounced dead, state police said.
No lane closures were reported, authorities said.
