A traffic stop in the Jefferson Park neighborhood ended in a car crash and shots fired at police, Chicago police said.
Officers tried to pull over a driver in a Jeep in the 4800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue around 4 p.m. Monday when the driver hit the police car and sped off, police said. The Jeep driver fired at least one shot, striking the police vehicle, police said.
In the 4500 block of North Meade Avenue, the Jeep struck a second marked squad car. The driver got out of the car and ran away, but was later taken into custody in the 6100 block of West Eastwood Avenue in Portage Park, according to police.
No one was injured, and no Chicago police officers fired shots, according to police.
Police said they recovered a gun from the Jeep. Charges are pending, and detectives are investigating.
