Driver killed and child airlifted to hospital after three-car crash

A driver has died and a child is in critical condition after a crash involving three cars in Wales.

The serious crash happened on the A483 near Welshpool in Powys, Wales, on Saturday evening.

A red BMW X3, a blue Audi S4 and a white Toyota Yaris smashed on the carriageway at about 6.15pm.

The red BMW and the blue Audi had been heading northbound while the Toyota was travelling in the opposite direction, Dyfed-Powys Police said.

The force said: ‘Sadly, the driver of the white Toyota Yaris died at the scene. A child passenger of the same car was air lifted to hospital with serious injuries.

‘HM coroner and next of kin have been informed. Specially trained officers are supporting their family.’

Now two men have been arrested following the fatal crash.

One man, aged 29, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drug driving.

Another man, aged 33, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The road was shut overnight during a collision investigation before reopening on Sunday morning.

In Bristol, a child is fighting for their life after a suspected hit and run this morning after a BMW driver crashed into the child.

On the M25, one person was airlifted to a trauma centre after a crash involving a motorbike and a car.
