East Bay man dies after becoming trapped in burning car

DANVILLE — A Danville man died Monday after a fire broke out in his vehicle, which then crashed into a garage, police said.

The fatal sequence that killed 68-year-old John Domanico happened about 1:15 p.m. In a statement, police said they were called to the 400 block of Oneida Court after receiving reports a vehicle was on fire at a residence. They later received reports that the vehicle was in the garage of a residence and that a person inside the car was trapped.

San Ramon Valley Fire District crews put out the blaze and found Domanico dead in the car, police said.

Authorities cited the investigation and did not release any other details.
