East Bay pets of the week for June 27

Hi, I’m Frankie! I may be shy at first, but with patience and love, I’ll reveal my gentle, affectionate side. I thrive in a quiet home where I can feel safe and adjust at my own pace. A home without small kids would help me build trust. Once I’m comfortable, I’ll be your soft, purring companion, happily curling up nearby to share peaceful moments. I can’t wait to meet you! Visit the website of the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society at berkeleyhumane.org to learn more and schedule a meeting with me.

Meet Leilani, a regal young dog whose spirit never dampens! Leilani loves to run and chase, but is also fond of time relaxing in the sun — even better if you’re reclining by her side. This young hound mix soaks up training and guidance like a sponge, and has made amazing strides with our shelter trainers! She’s learned to keep “four paws on the floor,” to sit, plus continues to thrive with guidance and love. We’re recommending a home where Leilani can be a solo dog and bask in all of your attention. If you’re looking for an attentive companion who’s eager to learn and cuddly at the end of the day, she may be your perfect match! Leilani is currently kicking back in a foster home, so reach out to customercare@eastbayspca.org to set up a meet and greet. The East Bay SPCA offers walk-in adoptions at its Oakland and Dublin campuses from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. For updated and real-time information on programs and offerings, visit eastbayspca.org/adoptions.

Love cats but allergic to them? Dino may be the cat of your dreams! The handsome, 6-year-old boy isn’t into being petted (except with a long-handled scratcher) and doesn’t love laps, but wrap him up like a purrito in a soft towel, and he’ll let you carry him like royalty. He’s on daily meds but he handles it like a pro. If you don’t mind a cat who doesn’t pine to be petted, find Dino reigning supreme at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter on 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda. You can also call 510-337-8565 or visit alamedaanimalshelter.org/adopt.

Adopt Olive, who’s grown from a very skinny rescue to a plump friendly adult. She tails humans to the bathroom, supervises in the kitchen and makes her round furry tummy available for pets (though not on the first date). To meet Olive, contact Mary at mapmilton@gmail.com. Community Concern for Cats now holds weekend adoption events at Pet Food Express stores in Walnut Creek and Martinez along with our regular location at 1250-H Newell Ave. in Walnut Creek. Visit communityconcernforcats.org for more information.

Bennie’s a happy little man who loves to snuggle. He’s great being held and will hang out anytime for pets and head scratches. Benny’s cat friendly so a fur-sister or -brother would be ideal. Did you know Milo gives a discount when you adopt more than one kitten or cat? Contact the staff at Milo Point Richmond for assistance from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Tuesdays at 220 S.
