East Bay pets of the week for May 23

Hi there, I’m Johnnie! I’m a sleek, handsome guy with a soft spot for sunbeams and quiet company. I’ve got an independent streak and love my solo time, but once I’m settled in I’ll happily hang nearby — maybe curled up on the couch while we binge-watch something cozy. I’m not big on chaos, so I’d do best in a mellow home without young kids. Bonus points if you’ve got a great cat tree — I’m all about the good life! Visit the website of the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society at berkeleyhumane.org to learn more and schedule a meeting with me.

Playful and independent, 3-year-old tortie-tabby Millie loves to enjoy every moment of every day, whether it’s napping in her favorite spot or playing with any kind of toy. Millie is perfectly content doing her own thing, but once she gets to know you, she’s also all about the snuggles and affection. While Millie adores people, she’s not such a fan of other kitties (who likes to share the attention, anyway?) and she’ll do best in a home with consistency and plenty of 1-on-1 connection. Meet Millie in Dublin. The East Bay SPCA offers walk-in adoptions at its Oakland and Dublin campuses from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. For updated and real-time information on programs and offerings, visit eastbayspca.org/adoptions.

If you love a Warrior, meet Steph Curry. This 6-month-old puppy is a dream: super smart, affectionate and loving. This gangly, goofy boy is all hops and heart. He’s staying in a fantastic foster home, where he easily integrated into life with two kids (10 and 12) and two other dogs. Steph knows sit, off, walks easily on a leash without pulling and is very inquisitive (yes, he likes to explore counters). Ready to love and be loved unconditionally by a very good pup? Call Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter at 510-337-8565 to arrange a meetup or visit alamedaanimalshelter.org/adopt.

Little Ms. Mitzy has a heart full of love, just waiting for someone to share it with. Left behind and in rough shape, this sweet girl never lost her gentle spirit. At 11 to 12 years old, Ms. Mitzy’s incredibly friendly, endlessly cuddly and would love nothing more than to be someone’s devoted, purring companion. If you have room in your heart for a loyal friend, she’s ready to fill it. To meet Ms. Mitzy, please text Lea 707-372-1841. Community Concern for Cats now holds weekend adoption events at Pet Food Express stores in Walnut Creek and Martinez along with our regular location at 1250-H Newell Ave. in Walnut Creek.
