SAN FRANCISCO — A Contra Costa County woman is accused of attacking two crew members on an international flight and security personnel at San Francisco International Airport earlier this year, according to authorities.
Reshma Kamath, 40, of Bethel Island, was flying from Delhi, India, to SFO on June 28 and 29 when she allegedly assaulted and intimidated the crew members, “including by verbally abusing, threatening and striking them,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Upon landing at SFO, Kamath allegedly assaulted security personnel, including a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer, prosecutors said.
Kamath is charged with two counts of interference with flight crew members; one count of assaulting, resisting or impeding a federal officer; and one count of interference with security screening personnel, according to an indictment filed on Nov. 5.
If convicted, she faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count of interference with flight crew members; eight years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the count of assaulting, resisting or impeding an officer; and 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the count of interference with security screening personnel.
Kamath made her initial appearance in district court Thursday. She is next scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 7.
