The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday. Construction crews will be working on ramp realignment work and ADA improvements over the weekend.
CalTrans advised drivers to exit at Donohoe Street. People can access University Avenue by turning left at Donohoe Street onto southbound University Avenue.
According to the city of East Palo Alto, some improvements include creating a pedestrian overcrossing over the highway, creating a separated bike path that connects the overcrossing to Woodland Avenue and Donohoe Street, widening the highway’s southbound off-ramp to University Avenue and additional improvements to the intersection and traffic lights.
The construction work was previously scheduled from Dec. 13 to Dec. 16, but was rescheduled to the weekend of Dec. 20 to Dec. 23 due to rainy conditions at the time; the closure was then delayed again to the January dates. CalTrans said in the press release that all work is weather dependent. Light rain is expected Friday.
